God, Actually by Roy Williams

In this wide-ranging, provocative defence of Christianity, former lawyer Roy Williams contends that belief should be based on logical deductions from known facts. Using a wealth of examples drawn from science, politics, history, sociology and the arts, he tackles the biggest questions by appealing to evidence and reason. Part careful and ecumenical apologia, part testament to Williams' personal journey towards faith, God, Actually will appeal to sceptics and practising Christians alike

Roy Williams, OBE, began his career as an actor before transitioning to full-time writing in 1990. He earned a first-class BA Hons degree in Writing from Rose Bruford College in 1995, and he attended the Carlton Television screenwriter's programme in 1997. The No Boys Cricket Club (Theatre Royal, Stratford East, 1996) earned him TAPS Writer of the Year Award 1996 and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain's New Writer of the Year Award 1996 nominations. For Starstruck (Tricycle Theatre, London, 1998), which jointly received the 31st John Whiting Award and the EMMA Award 1999, he was the inaugural recipient of the Alfred Fagon Award in 1997. The George Devine Prize for 2000 was to Lift Off (Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, 1999).
