Going There by Peter Worrall
Why do GPs consult in a particular way and ask the questions they do? How do they use this information to help patients get the best possible outcomes? The book shows the reasoning behind this and the development of related skills by following the training of one GP and the patients and families she meets through this process
On retirement from a career in education, Peter Worrall worked as an OU tutor and became involved in medical training in Leicester, developing a team of simulated patients (SPs) to work on communication skills with medical students and GP registrars. Originally from Yorkshire, Dr Bevis Heap qualified from Leicester and has worked locally since. A GP for over 29 years, 26 as a trainer, he retired from practice in 2015. Dr Fieza Chaudry was born and raised in Leicester. Her medical career began in her hometown, where she graduated in 2009 and completed her GP training in 2014. Working as a salaried GP, she developed an interest in medical teaching and became a GP trainer in 2015.
