In the 1970s, James Buchan studied Persian and Arabic in Iran and worked as a foreign reporter for the London Financial Times for ten years. His books have been translated into eight languages and have won significant literary awards in the United Kingdom, including the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Guardian Fiction Prize. He lives on a farm in Norfolk, England, with his wife and three children.
