It views painting, sculpture, architecture, manuscript illumination and applied arts in various contexts, including public and private art, devotional and secular art, and art related to science.Michael Camille was a professor of art history at the University of Chicago from 1958 to 2002. He is the author of several books, including The Gothic Idol: Ideology and Image-Making in Medieval Art and The Gothic Idol: Ideology and Image-Making in Medieval Art.
