Madeleine Thien is the author of Simple Recipes, a story collection that was a Commonwealth Writers' Prize finalist, a Kiriyama Pacific Prize Noteworthy Book, and received the BC Book Prize for Fiction; Certainty, a book that won the Amazon.ca First Novel Award; and Dogs at the Perimeter, a novel that was shortlisted for Berlin's 2014 International Literary Award and won the Frankfurt Book Prize for Fiction. Her works have been published in Granta, The Guardian, The Financial Times, Five Dials, Brick, and Al Jazeera, and her writings have appeared in Granta, The Guardian, The Financial Times, Five Dials, Brick, and Al Jazeera. Her work The Wedding Cake was nominated for the prestigious EFG Short Story Prize in 2015. She resides in Montreal as the daughter of Malaysian-Chinese immigrants.
