This updated 1995 edition of a discography of rock music contains details on over 1000 artists and bands over five decades covering the development of the rock genre. It has complete discographies for all formats, listings and dates of all EP, single and album releases, and their respective highest chart positions in both the UK and the US. Detailed biographies of all the artists are included, as well as band histories, from origination to dissolution. The author also analyzes each artist's style and influences, recommends albums and gives a piece of obscure trivia for each entry. The book includes over 70 caricatures by Harry Horse, including 30 new ones.
Martin C. Strong has compiled discographies for around30 years, including The Great Metal Discography, The Great Alternative and Indie Discography, The Great Psychedelic Discography and The Great Rock Discography, now in its seventh edition (all published by Canongate). He has three daughters and lives in Falkirk.
