The first volume tells the story of the campaigns in north-west Europe, in which four Battalions of the Regiment took part, beginning with the battles fought during the retreat to Dunkirk in 1940, and ending with the advance into the heart of Germany in 1945.The second volume tells the story of the Grenadiers' campaigns in the Mediterranean from the Mareth Line to the Austrian frontier, between 1942 and 1945.
Forbes, Patrick: - Patrick Forbes is a writer, broadcaster and priest. Along the way he has been a radio officer in the Merchant Navy, served numerous parishes, and over many years contributed to religious broadcasting as producer and presenter. He still contributes regularly to Radio 2's Pause for Thought and has written two books, Gospel of Folly and Clowning Glory about the ministry of clowning. He lives with his wife Annette and his trombone in Hertfordshire.
