Grow & Brew Your Own Organic Tea by Pia Dowling

Grow & Brew Your Own Organic Tea Green & Herbal] focuses on time and cost saving, chemical-free techniques including how to grow, harvest, dry, pulverize, brew and store Green Tea (Camelia sinensis) and a variety of Herbal Teas including (German) Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), Elder (Sambucus canadensis), Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon citratus), Lemon Verbena (Aloysia tryphilla), Mints (Mentha sp.), Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans) and Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa). Monitoring all stages from plant selection to brewing, ensures the Green Tea and Herbal Teas you drink are free of any chemical additives, alleviating some purported health and environmental concerns. The 'Invigorating Brew' made from Green Tea and a variety of Herbal Teas is useful to assist in rehydration after exercise and due to the Lemon Verbena (Aloysia tryphilla), Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon citratus) and Mint (Mentha sp.) content also has breath freshener appeal.

For the past two decades, Pia Dowling (MBA) has managed to harvest viable and sustainable organic produce in a range of places with radically diverse climate zones and soil characteristics. Pia converted a weed-infested suburban backyard in Brisbane, Australia, into a sustainable, organic kitchen garden a few years ago that has provided her with fresh eggs from her happy chickens as well as fresh, healthy, and abundant produce all year long, year after year. Pia opted to document the time, money, and water saving tactics used to build and manage a sustainable kitchen garden over the past year or two while juggling professional work responsibilities, including selecting, dehydrating, and storing seeds, and transplanting seedlings and cuttings for a variety of fruit, vegetables, herbs, and companion flowers. She was astounded to discover more than a hundred species of insects, spiders, and birds attracted to the kitchen garden without the need of chemical pesticides, resulting in a naturally balanced ecology with minimum damage to produce. Several attendees at the interactive presentation of the book 'Common Scents Organic Gardening - Methods for Developing and Managing a Sustainable Kitchen Garden' held at the Carindale Library in Brisbane, Australia on Friday 1st March 2013 said: -Useful and practical information -So instructive and educational -'The best feature of this event was the speaker's knowledge -Engaging
