Gumdrop is nearly scooped up by a bulldozer when he visits Mildew Manor. They are building a motorway right through the safari park. Mr Oldcastle and Sir Marmaduke hatch a plan to keep the bulldozers at bay - but it's Gumdrop who really hits the jackpot! Gumdrop is a famous vintage car belonging to Val Biro. Together they travel the country visiting their many fans and appearing on television.
Val Biro lives in West Sussex with his wife. He was born in Hungary and trained as an artist in Budapest before coming to London to study at the Central School. He worked in publishing before coming a freelance illustrator and starting this popular series based on the real Gumdrop, his own Austin 12/4 Heavy, 1926.
