Gumdrop and The Elephant by Val Biro
Barmy Bigshott's zoo is a dreadful place with hungry animals cramped in cages. When Bunbo the elephant breaks free, Gumdrop helps teach Barmy a lesson and finds Bunbo a wonderful new home.
Val Biro lives in West Sussex with his wife. He was born in Hungary and trained as an artist in Budapest before coming to London to study at the Central School. He worked in publishing before coming a freelance illustrator and starting this popular series based on the real Gumdrop, his own Austin 12/4 Heavy, 1926.
