Gwen Tells Tales by Edward T Welch

Gwen Tells Tales is a warm, beautifully illustrated story that helps young children learn the courage of telling the truth and the comfort of God’s forgiveness when they fail.

When Gwen Raccoon is embarrassed by a failing math grade, she begins piling up lies to cover her mistakes and protect herself. But as her dishonesty grows, so does the trouble it brings. Through her mother’s honest example and Gwen’s own confession, children see that telling the truth can be hard, but Jesus welcomes those who repent and gives them strength to walk in honesty.

Part of the Good News for Little Hearts series, this gospel-centered book offers more than a lesson about behavior by helping children understand the deeper heart issues behind lying. Edited by Edward T. Welch and rooted in CCEF’s model of hope and help, it also includes a parent resource section and tear-out Back Pocket Bible Verses, equipping families for meaningful conversations about confession, forgiveness, and living by faith in everyday life.

Joe Hox was raised on a farm in southern Iowa where he doodled whenever he wasn't spading thistles or bottle-feeding calves. Everyone knew by his crooked hay rows that he would choose art over farming. Joe taught art for twelve years before becoming a full-time illustrator. He is the illustrator for the Good News for Little Hearts series, as well as Who Is Jesus? 40 Pictures to Share with Your Family, written by his wife, Kate.
