Margaret Stevens is the former President of the Society of Botanical Artists and exhibits regularly with the Royal Horticultural Society. She is author of several books on botanical illustration, including The Botanical Sketchbook. Ernest Ellis Clark (1869-1932) was a Derby-born artist who became an artist for Royal Crown Derby. He rose to be an arts instructor and later Arts Master at Derby College of Art, winning many prizes for art and becoming a National Silver Medallist in Ornament and Design. Three of his paintings are in Derby Museum and Art Gallery.
