Hannahs Choice by Kirsty Jones
The moving and inspirational true story of one little girl's battle against the medical odds and a mother's unwavering love for her daughter.‘An inspirational story about beating the odds, living life to the full and never giving up on life and each other’ Excelle
Hannah Jones loved Zac Efron, playing on her Nintendo DS and anything pink. She was just like any other twelve-year-old girl, except that she had already faced not one but two life-threatening illnesses: diagnosed first with leukaemia aged four, the drugs given to treat her cancer caused a rare side effect and damaged her heart. Because of the risks involved, Hannah initially refused a heart transplant but two years later changed her mind as she prepared to celebrate a birthday doctors had never thought she'd see. In August 2009, Hannah was successfully given a new heart at Great Ormond Street Hospital and has since returned home to be with her family.
Kirsty Jones, Hannah’s mother, is a trained nurse. She and her husband Andrew have tirelessly supported Hannah’s decisions and live with their four children on their farm in Herefordshire.
