Harvey's Law by Roger Harvey
This is the story of Roger Harvey - a man who dedicated his life to the police force, from February 1956 up until his retirement in August 1983 and the stories he has to tell about his time on the job. At the centre of Harvey's Law is a man committed to and successful at his job, but that doesn't mean that he didn't know how to enjoy himself. Through Roger's world, we are offered an absorbing story that is at times moving, at times laugh out loud funny and which reflects the changes of himself, the country and the criminals at the end of the twentieth century. A fascinating story told with pathos and humour, Harvey's Law is an enthralling memoir.Poet, novelist and scriptwriter Roger Harvey was born in 1953 and lives in Newcastle, England. He is best known for his historical novels THE SILVER SPITFIRE (also a 13-part radio serial and audio book) and the more recent MAIDEN VOYAGE, set around the building of the gigantic ocean a liner 'Mauretania'. His other novels include the romantic childrens' adventure ALBATROSS BAY and the prequels to ROOM FOR US: ROOM FOR LOVE and ROOM FOR ME, all with nostalgic 'retro-chic' settings in the romantic Northumbrian countryside. His plays MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! and GUINEVERE-JENNIFER have been toured and GUINEVERE-JENNIFER was made into a film. He is one of Britain's most published poets and contributes stories, features and articles to many magazines. Roger's other interests include music and classic cars.
