Keith and Jennifer met as undergraduates at the University of Reading in the early 1960s. In 2017 they celebrated their fifty-second wedding anniversary; just before that they were awarded Honorary Life Membership of both Surrey County Cricket Club and the Association of County Cricket Scorers in recognition of services to county and international scoring. Between them they have scored over 150 international cricket matches. Their substantive careers were, in Keith's case, university administration at home and overseas, and in Jennifer's, archives management, the bulk of it in the Tate Gallery. Her professional expertise has been invaluable in sourcing information for Keith's series of books which have become a canon of Surrey biography, the last two of which she has been credited as co-author. Keith and Jennifer's books have been regular nominees for the Cricket Society/MCC Book of the Year award. Including books in joint authorship, Keith's current scorecard reads seven longlisted titles, three on the shortlist and one winner.
