Tulku Thondup Rinpoche (Wyl.) Tulku Thondup Rinpoche (Wyl.) Tulku Thond In 1939, sprul sku don grub) was born in Golok, Amdo. At the age of four, he was identified as the reincarnation of Konme Khenpo, a great scholar of the Dodrupchen monastery. Thondup Rinpoche became the monastery's ritual master (Dorje Lobpon) after entering Dodrupchen monastery and studying numerous Buddhist literature. He migrated to India in 1958 and taught at Lucknow University from 1967 to 1976 and Visva-Bharati University from 1976 to 1980.
He moved to the United States in 1980 and worked as a visiting scholar at Harvard University. Under the aegis of the Buddhayana Foundation, he now works on translation and study into Tibetan Buddhist texts, particularly those of the Nyingma lineage tradition, and has written a number of volumes, including Secret Teachings of Tibet (on terma), Buddhist Civilisation in Tibet, The Practice of Dzogchen (Longchenpa on Dzogchen), and Enlightened Life (on ethical conduct).
