Heartsongs by Mattie Jt Stepanek
"Heartsongs" is a collection of inspirational poetry by Mattie Stepanek, an 11-year-old boy who suffers from muscular dystrophy. With a universal message of hope and peace, Stepanek's poems have captured hearts and minds around the world. Matthew Joseph Thaddeus Stepanek, known to his friends as "Mattie", began writing poetry and short stories at the age of three. Some of his poetry explores the uncensored reality of living with a rare form of muscular dystrophy and with the grief associated with the loss of his three siblings to the same life-threatening condition. But most of them proclaim the innocent hope, profound wisdom and delightful humour of childhood.
'My kids always amaze me, but none more than Mattie Stepanek, whose poetry reflects a heart and mind that soar beyond his 11 yearsIf he can give us the wisdom and inspiration of this book now, what riches of the human spirit can his future hold? We must do all we can to discover that.' JERRY LEWIS, National Chairman, Muscular Dystrophy Association 'By confronting his mortality, Mattie has become a teacher whose words make the wisdom and beauty of creation available to us all. If, as we are told, angels are messengers, Mattie is definitely and angel.' BERNIE SIEGEL, M.D., author of Love Medicine and Miracles and Prescription for Healing
