Helen Philipps' Cross Stitch Garden Notebook by Helen Philipps

Included are aspects of gardening and horticulture to please everyone: from the thatched roof house and rambling flowers of the Cottage Garden to the trusty potting shed and bountiful harvest of the Kitchen Garden, each chapter evokes their beauty in a vibrant, full-sized sampler. There is also a myriad of smaller projects. Seed packets of yesteryear inspire the designs sewn onto a gardening apron; and a miniature birdhouse picture, a knot garden pin cushion and scissor keeper or a charming scarecrow bookmark make perfect gifts for green-fingered friends. Helen enjoys using eye-catching buttons and charms in her cross stitch designs. With the advice on using embellishments provided, an extra dimension is added to the stitching. If you prefer not to use buttons, their images have been charted to allow you to work the complete design. While colour photography that really inspires and clear step-by-step instructions guarantee the projects are a pleasure to stitch. Helen's own watercolour illustrations and fascinating snippets of gardening lore make this book a delight to read and essential for cultivating a cross stitch masterpiece.
