Lorena Alvarez was born and reared in Bogota, Colombia, and attended the Universidad Nacional de Colombia to study Graphic Design and Arts. Puffin Publications, Faber & Faber, Usborne Books, Parragon, and Boom! have all used her illustrations. She is the author of the popular Nightlights series, which was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2018 for Outstanding Publication for Children (9-12).
