Hidden Wisdom by Richard Smoley
Contemporary seekers on the hunt for an overview of the Western mystery traditions often face a small selection of dense, out-of-date tomes. Alternatively, Hidden Wisdom is a fresh, coherent, and accessible work that expounds many of the teachings of Western esotericism, examining its key figures and movements.
From 1968 through the 1970s and into the 1980s, Jay Kinney was a key figure in the underground comics movement. Young Lust, a satirical romance comic, was co-created by him, as was Anarchy Comics, which he started and edited. He also contributed to a number of other comics. Before launching Gnosis: A Journal of the Western Inner Traditions, he was the editor of Whole Earth's CoEvolution Quarterly. Hidden Wisdom, The Inner West, and The Masonic Myth are among his other works. He just contributed a chapter to Ten Years that Shook the City: San Francisco 1968-1978 (City Lights) about the underground comics scene.
