John L. Young has been hiking the forests of Pennsylvania since his childhood in Altoona. He has a degree in journalism and is a former newspaper reporter and columnist. His outdoor and travel articles have appeared in Ohio Magazine, Pennsylvania Magazine, and Pursuits, a publication of the Pennsylvania Tourism Office. He is currently at work on Hiking the Poconos. Young has been interviewed about his books twice on JET TV 24 and once by WSEE 35, in Erie, PA. He was the subject of a two-part series wherein he had an experimental heart procedure at St.Vincents Hospital and returned three years later with his first hiking book in hand to pass out to the cardiologist.
