Although Scott has climbed areas throughout the world in the Soviet Union, USA, Canada, Alaska, Sahara, Baffin Island, Kenya, Iceland and Norway it is for his sequence of major Himalayan climbs that he is most renowned. Of particular relevance are his ascents of the South West Face of Everest in 1975, the North of Kanchungunga in 1979, the Ogre in 1977 and the South Face of Shisa Pangma in 1982.
