The Hinckley Guide to Yacht Care
Summary
The feel-good place to buy books

The Hinckley Guide to Yacht Care by Henry Hinckley
The Hinckley Company's craftsmanship is famous in boating circles worldwide. This Maine builder of high-quality sail and power boats is so fussy that they cast their own hardware rather than buy the lesser-quality commercial brands. Here is a thorough-going guide for any boatowner who would have his boat - no matter now modest - maintained and finished to Hinckley standards. Written by Hinckley scion Henry R. Hinckley III, this book is printed in full color with handsome professional photography. It covers paint and varnish; hull and deck maintenance; mechanical and electrical systems; masts, sails, and rigging; and boat improvements and upgrades. Like a Hinckley yacht, it is both beautiful and useful. We are pleased to offer The Hinckley Guide to Yacht Care in paperback for the first time.
Hank Hinckley, son of the founder of Henry R. Hinckley & Company, is the third generation of Hinckley boatbuilders. Growing up in Mt. Desert, Maine, he apprenticed at the yard where he learned the arts of rigging, carpentry, mechanics, fiberglassing, drafting/designing, and service management. After school and service as a Navy Seabee, Hank managed sailboat development for the Glastron Boat Company in Texas, was general manager of the Oxford Boat Yard in Maryland, then returned to Maine as president and co-founder of Ocean Cruising Yachts and later Great Harbor Yachts, a custom boatbuilder.
