Hitting the Zone by Steve Williams

In collaboration with leading sports people, de Lacy applies the basic principles of self-improvement - goal-setting, creative visualisation, affirmation, relaxation techniques - to specific sports. His co-author, Steve Williams, has for the last three years been the full-time caddy for Tiger Woods, one of the world's leading golfers. Before that he had more than fifteen years on the international golf circuit, caddying for some of the leading golfers of the day, notably Greg Norman (for eight years) and Raymond Floyd. Since being discovered as a teenager in 1976 by five-times British Open winner Peter Thomson, Williams has parlayed a natural bent for his craft into by far one of the most successful caddying careers in the game's history In October 2003, in partnership with Woods, he recorded his one hundredth professional tournament win as a caddy. From the time he first caddied for Thomson at the age of 14, Williams has viewed the caddy's role as the professional golfer's key on-the-spot resource of technical and strategic information and psychological support. As with Norman and Floyd, and more recently Woods, the egalitarian Williams has established close personal relationships with his employers. In Hitting the Zone he expounds his philosophy and applies the basic self-improvement techniques to golf using his vast resource of practical experience and anecdotes.
