
The Hole in the Bone by J Thomas Brown
An archaeologist is hired by the Regional Museum of Xinjiang (East Turkestan) to discover the Lost City of Shamadu. Caught in a sandstorm in the Taklamakan Desert, he stumbles upon the tomb of an ancient shaman who transports him 4000 years back in time through a bone talisman. He emerges through the hole in the bone to Shamadu incarnated as the shaman, Tok Ma, enduring physical hardships and fighting mythological demons in the Kunlun Mountains to find Fenghuang, the all-knowing simurgh who is a friend of mankind. Fenghuang reveals that Lord Xie Pu will soon die and enslave the souls of his subjects for eternity in the hallows of the Kunlun. Tok Ma must save them but will fail in his mission. He will be given a second chance to succeed in another life as Nick Taylor.
Brown, J. Thomas: - J. Thomas Brown lives in Henrico, Virginia, with his wife and children. He has co-produced local TV writing shows and coordinated poetry readings at the Richmond Public Library. J. Thomas grew up living the life of an American nomad. His father had the wanderlust and moved his family up and down the American East Coast, to Sweden and England, and back and forth in between. The author moved his family from Bucks County Pennsylvania to Richmond Virginia in 1996 where they have remained ever since.
