Hollywood Moments by Murray Garrett
Frank Sinatra at a recording session, Marilyn Monroe giggling with Betty Grable, Clark Gable making an entrance at a premiere: showbiz photographer Murray Garrett had a knack for catching movie idols in unguarded moments. He has been a fly on the wall at many private Hollywood parties over the years. The photographs he took of Hollywood's heyday, including shots of Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Ava Gardner, Gregory Peck and Bogey and Bacall, are intimate and sometimes irreverent. The personal reminiscences that accompany the photographs in this collection offer the reader an insight into the private lives of the stars.
Murray Garrett was a professional photographer specializing in show business, first in New York in the early 1940s, then in Hollywood, from 1946 until the 1960s. He was sent on assignment by news magazines, including Life, Time, and Newsweek, and also worked privately for many directors, film executives, and movie stars. Formerly retired, since the publication of Hollywood Candid, he has embarked on a second career as an author and lecturer on his years in Hollywood. He and his wife live in Sherman Oaks, California.
