This title presents an around-the-world look at baking - from loaves, flatbreads and savoury pies, to sweet buns, simple cakes, cookies and tarts. The authors promote the importance of a return to casual baking in order to encourage homebaking traditions.Naomi Duguid is a world traveler, writer, photographer, teacher, and cook. Her most recent cookbook, Burma, was awarded the 2013 IACP Cookbook Award for Culinary Travel and the Taste Canada Food Writing Award for bringing news of a long-forgotten area of the world. Flatbreads & Flavors: A Baker's Atlas, her debut book, won a James Beard Award for Cookbook of the Year; Seductions of Rice; Hot Sour Salty Sweet, also a James Beard Cookbook of the Year; Mangoes & Curry Leaves; and Beyond the Great Wall, all co-authored with Jeffrey Alford. Duguid's images and articles have appeared in Lucky Peach, Food & Wine, and other publications on a regular basis. She is a regular presenter and guest speaker at food conferences.
She hosts the Food on Cinema series in Toronto and maintains a strong online presence (Twitter and Facebook). While she's not on the road, she lives in Toronto, where her stock photo agency, Asia Access, is situated.
