Sara Paston-Williams is an author, journalist, lecturer and broadcaster who specialises in food and food history. Her recent books include Good Old-fashioned Jams, Preserves and Chutneys, Good Old-fashioned Puddings and The Art of Dining. She lives in Cornwall.

Doug Rouxel is an allotmenteer, brewer and artist, and has a long held passion for home brewing. He has been brewing ever since he was at university, and has a wide experience of making beers, wines and ciders from home grown, foraged and shop bought ingredients. He optimistically dreams of self sufficiency from his suburban Essex home where he lives with his wife, three children and three chickens.
