Home Now by Karin Littlewood
An orphaned baby elephant helps Sieta to forget her sadness at being an orphan herself and start living life afresh.
Karen Littlewood's illustrations are imbued with warmth and reassuring rich, tawny glow.. Key Stage 1 children will respond with immediate empathy but at Key Stage 2 the class could be encouraged to discuss issues in greater depth. School Librarian An afterword gives information about the plight of Aids orphans in Africa, and teachers can choose whether to talk about this as they read, or to let the story's universal message about loss, grief and new hope stand alone.
