Horizons Beyond the Darkness by Scott B Williams
BOK V OF THE PULSE SERIES-REUNITED IN THE SOUTHERN BAHAMAS WHERE THEY HOPED TO FIND REFUGE, THE CREWS OF THE CASEY NICOLE AND THE SARAH J. FACE HARD DECISIONS. Scully is out of action from the rifle round that nearly cost him his leg, and Thomas and Mindy, who brought him to the islands, are missing. Before they can begin to look for them, Larry and the others must free the Sarah J. from the sandbar where Rebecca ran it aground in her escape from a desperate castaway. Their planned layover to regroup and repair the boats proves impossible when a deadly encounter with rogue law enforcement officers leaves Larry with no option but to get the Casey Nicole out of the Bahamas. Once again, he resolves to set sail in hopes of finding refuge for his crew, with no way of knowing if what's over the horizon will be any better than the nightmares astern in the wake. Horizons Beyond the Darkness is a story of continued hope and hardship in a quest to escape the darkness that has plunged civilization into lawless anarchy and violence after a solar EMP destroys the grid.
