House by Frank E Peretti
From the minds of multimillion selling authors Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker comes a mind-bending supernatural thriller. Two couples vacationing in Alabama are pursued by a maniac killer. They flee deep into the woods and take refuge in an old house that has been vacated for years, or so they think. But they soon discover that they are not alone and that the killer has purposely lured them to this house. It seems that the killer and the house are somehow working in concert. The victims try to leave, but the house won't let them. When they receive a message from the killer claiming that he has killed God and demanding more dead bodies, they begin to understand that the malevolence of the house is a mirror of the evil within their own hearts and souls. Unless each can defeat that evil within, the house will surely claim them forever.
The son of missionaries John and Helen Dekker, whose incredible story of life among headhunters in Indonesia has been told in several books, Ted Dekker learned at a very early age the difference between authentic Christianity and so-called religion. Surrounded by the vivid colors of the jungle and a myriad of cultures, Dekker received a first-class education on human nature and behavior. This, he believes, is the foundation of his writing. After earning his Bachelor's Degree in Religion and Philosophy from Evangel College, Dekker spent time in the corporate world before turning to writing full-time in 1997. He states that each time he writes, he finds his vision of God just a little clearer and his expression of that vision a little more vivid. Dekker's body of work contains over twenty novels including Thr3e, The Circle Series, and Sinner.
