Darrel Rees has been an illustrator since 1986, and in 1992 he joined the famed London studio The Big Orange. In 1994, he started the illustration agency Heart in London, then in 2001, he founded Heart in New York. Steven Heller edited The Education of an Illustrator, and he contributed to it. He is a member of the Society of Publication Designers in New York and the D&AD in the United Kingdom, where he serves as a jury foreman on the D&AD's awards program.
