How to Use, Adapt and Design Knitting Patterns by Sam Elliott

Learn how to create your own basic knitting patterns, tailored to your measurements by using an existing garment as a blueprint for your own knitted designs. Discover how to adapt patterns - whether your own or shop bought - to suit you by varying the design elements: necklines, sleeves and body shape, and by adding embellishments, such as embroidery, appliqué and repeated stitch patterns. This book gives you the power to get the best results from any pattern, while learning how to adapt them to suit your own body shape, taste and style.
Sam Elliott and Sidney Bryan met whilst studying constructed textiles. After graduating Elliott freelanced as a knitwear designer before setting up her own label selling knitted accessories to some of the world's most renowned boutiques and department stores. Bryan did his MA at the Royal College of Art and now works as a consultant designing knitwear for catwalk shows and manufacturers all over the world. They are both also visiting lecturers in Fashion Knitwear at the RCA, St Martins and Kingston art schools.
