David Melling is one of the leading children's author/illustrators today and this perfect match of humour and endearing artwork launches a new character with huge potential on the Hodder Picture book list. Douglas is a big brown, huggable, lovable bear, and he wakes up one morning in need of a hug. He goes to try and find one -- but none of them seem quite right. Join Douglas on his search for the perfect bear hug!
David Melling has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Book Award. Before becoming an internationally-acclaimed and best-selling author/illustrator, David worked as a photographer and as an animation artist for films including the much-loved Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs. He was born in Oxford and still lives near the city with his wife and two children. His most popular picture book The Tale of Jack Frost was animated and shown on BBC1 on Christmas Day with a voice over by Hugh Laurie and it was shortlisted for the Pulcinella Award 2005 for 'Best TV Movie' category.
