I Am a Man: Chief Standing Bear's Quest for Justice and The Dull Knives of Pine Ridge, which was nominated for the Pultizer Prize and received the MPIBA Award, are two of Joe Starita's works. He worked for Knight-Ridder publications in New York and was a veteran investigative reporter for the Miami Herald. More than two dozen accolades have been bestowed upon his work, including a Pulitzer Prize nominee for local reporting. He has an endowed position in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska.
