I Have Lived a Thousand Years, which won the Christopher Prize in 1998, is based on the biography of Livia Bitton-Jackson, a Holocaust survivor from Hungary. Bitton-Jackson graduated from New York University with a doctorate in Hebrew Culture and Jewish History and has lectured at a number of colleges and universities. She penned her memoirs to deliver a message to the world: Never give up.
