Since 2011, Emily Nussbaum has been contributing to The New Yorker. She won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 2016 and the National Magazine Award for Columns and Commentary in 2014. She was previously the TV critic and editor of New York magazine's Culture Pages, where she devised the Approval Matrix, a humorous culture charticle that concludes each issue. Nussbaum has contributed to publications such as The New York Times, Slate, and Lingua Franca. She and her husband, Clive Thompson, live in Brooklyn with their two children.
