Icons of Fashion by Gerda Buxbaum
This is an exploration of the 20th-century history of fashion which divides the century into 11 stylistic periods. It includes the haute couture, the famous, influential designers, the radical fashion trends and the icons of clothing and fashion accessories.
Gerda Buxbaum. Studierte Englisch, Philosophie und Psychologie, Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaft sowie Kunstgeschichte an der Universitat Wien. 1985-96 Hochschulassistentin an der Hochschule fur angewandte Kunst Wien. 1985-88 Redaktion einer wochentlichen Modesendung im ORF. 1992-04 Lehrauftrag an der Hochschule fur kunstlerische und industrielle Gestaltung in Linz. 1993 Gastvorlesungen am FIDM Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles. 1993-97 Lehrauftrag an der Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. 1995-99 Leitung des Buros fur Offentlichkeitsarbeit und Ausstellungsmanagement an der Akademie der bildenden Kunste Wien. Seit 1999 Direktorin und Lehrtatigkeit an der Modeschule der Stadt Wien, Schloss Hetzendorf.
