Ignore It All and Hope It Goes Away by Nic Aubury
This completely original collection is a funny and hilariously truthful look at all the irritations and uncertainties of modern life. A sort of completely unhelpful self-help poetry book, for those who can't bear self-help. Accessible, utterly relatable and easy to read, it is an exciting new pairing of comedic voices, with popular comic artist Moose Allain's illustrations enhancing the book brilliantly.
Of all the poets to emerge in the last ten years, Nic Aubury is my favouriteHis poems are sharp, witty and memorable * Sophie Hannah, praise for Nic Aubury *
Nic Aubury has worked in advertising and teaching; he started writing poems by mistake. His poems have been featured in a Penguin anthology, on BBC Radio 4's Women's Hour and in Sophie Hannah's novel The Carrier, published by Hodder. One of Nic's poems for the Carcanet anthology, New Poetries VI, was chosen as Carol Rumens' Poem of the Week in the Guardian. Nic lives with his wife and their sons. Moose Allain used to work in London as an architect specialising in urban regeneration, and contributed to the UK's successful Olympic bid. Since becoming an artist and cartoonist, he has created animations for the BBC, illustrated the Pointless quiz show book and had cartoons published in Private Eye and The Literary Review.
