Illustrated Book of Trucks by Peter J Davies
An impressive symbol of strength, the truck is used for carrying anything from cars and cement, to food and animals, and is a vehicle that is found on almost every continent. This book begins with a history of the truck, covering its origins and evolution, the early pioneers of truck design and engineering, and the anatomy of the truck, along with photographs of the vehicles mentioned. A wide variety of trucks are featured, from general load carriers such as box vans and furniture removal vans, to specialized trucks, including fire and military trucks, and mobile cranes.
Peter J. Davies has had a lifelong passion for trucks, beginning with a 29-year career in the marketing department of Bedford, General Motors' UK truck division. He has since been a regular contributor to leading transport magazines as well as writing several books on trucks. He is president of the Commercial Vehicle & Road Transport Club.
