The feel-good place to buy books

The Illustrated Dictionary of Practical Pottery by Robert Fournier
This practical handbook concentrates on the down-to-earth aspects of pottery and, while molecular formulae, analyses and theory are included, it is a dictionary which gives direct help with the practice of ceramics. This new edition incorporates changes in the pottery world; modern techniques, types of glazes, methods of firing, and new materials, such as ceramic fibre, are dealt with comprehensively. Topics less in favour are discussed, such as lead compounds and asbestos-based materials, warnings are given and alternatives suggested. Health and hygiene have also been stressed. The author was technical assistant and teaching assistant to Dora Billington at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. He later initiated the Pottery Department at Goldsmith's College.| SKU | Unavailable |
