The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Practical Magic by Susan Greenwood

This work provides a definitive history of witchcraft down the centuries throughout the world. It contains over 60 practical spells, charms, rituals and invocations, and gives instructions on dowsing, reading runes, sensing auras, scurrying and space clearing, with step-by-step photographs of ritual practices that will help you unlock your magical abilities. It is richly illustrated with over 950 archive illustrations, inspirational fine art and evocative images of nature and practical images of rituals and spells. This book explores the development of magic through the ages until we reach the present day, and presents a thoughtful guide for anyone interested in working with the powers of nature. It describes the historical stories and legendary achievements of witches and sages of previous centuries and how witchcraft was understood and persecuted by different cultures over time. It gives advice on devising new rites for appropriate occasions, including instructions on how to choose the right incense or make a talisman for a spell; how to use creative visualization, perform blessings and dedications; how to enhance mental and spiritual awareness, and how to develop inner sight. Natural magic harnesses the innate powers that lie in the human mind, and the way our psychic abilities can give us access to other worlds and dimensions. This unique and sensitive book will inform and inspire both novices and established practitioners of the ancient mystical arts, as well as anyone interested in finding out more about the many ways that human beings have sought, and still seek, to relate to the world of spirit.
