Rhodes, Jason: - Author Jason Rhodes, award-winning journalist and photographer, has combed through hundreds of photos from collections from the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Salisbury Jaycees to select over 200 images that help tell Salisbury s story. These images, many never-before-seen, take readers from the Great Fire of 1886, to the founding of Salisbury University in 1925, to the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s with hangouts such as Johnny s and Sammy s and the Polar Bar, and the birth of the downtown plaza. A lifelong resident of Maryland s Eastern Shore, Rhodes has authored previous Arcadia books on his native Crisfield and Somerset County, as well as a history of amusement parks in Maryland.
