Sacred and secular poems of the Creek Tribe.Joy Harjo is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation member. She is the author of nine collections of poetry, the most recent of which is An American Sunrise, as well as one memoir, Crazy Brave. When the Light of the Earth Was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through, and Live Peoples, Living Words were among the anthologies she edited. In 2019, she was named poet laureate of the United States, and she now lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a Tulsa Artist Fellow.
