In Morocco is Edith Wharton's classic account of her journey to Morocco in the final days of World War I. Edith Wharton was born in New York in 1862. She lived for much of her life in France and was the first woman to be awarded the Legion d'Honneur in recognition of her achievements as a writer and for her relief work during the war. During her lifetime she wrote more than forty volumes of novels, poetry, essays, memoirs and travel books, the most well-known being The House of Mirth, Ethan Frome and The Age of Innocence, for which she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. She died in 1937.
