Morse, Susan Woods: - Susan Woods Morse grew up in California and then moved to Maine in the early 1980's. She earned a Masters degree in Literacy Education at the University of Maine, Orono, and completed a summer internship for the Maine Writers' Project. She also attended writing conferences through the MWPA at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and the Stonecoast Writers' Conference. She taught English/ Language Arts at the middle school level before retiring. In the Hush is her first chapbook, but individual poems have appeared in various journals including Cream City Review, The Mom Egg, The Aurorean, Sixfold, and The Binnacle. The effects of distance on relationships, plus dealing with relatives who have succumbed to Alzheimer's disease, have influenced the poems in this collection. Susan now lives in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
