In The Wild: Sea Otters by Patricia Kendell
This lovely new title looks at the lives of sea otters - from their birth to growing up, how they feed, grow, rest, and clean. It features glorious, large colour photographs, that show the sea otter at every stage of its life. The simple, engaging text allows young readers to understand a sea otter's life. There is also information about the threats that they face in the wild and how we can help them to survive in the future.
The real test for any marketing claims laid on classroom resources lies with real classroom practice and exposure to real childrenIn the Wild books passed this test with flying colours when I used them recently across three reception classes, and they generated a real buzz of enthusiastic sharing and questioning!. Its success is due to its fabulous photography, making all aspects of the animal's life visually accessible, and giving rise to excellent opportunities for discussion and questioning. -- TES Teacher 20050304
