The origin (birth) of most of the Gods we hear about are found in Puranas. Sometimes the end is also seen - for instance, Rama, Krishna, etc. However, the origin of lords Vishnu, Shiva and Devi have not been mentioned anywhere in puranas and all - in that sense they are unique.Sri Devi has also taken many an avataaram. In Sahasranaamaa, Trishatee, Ashtotram and all we have different names for Sri Devi. But an avataaram is different - it should have a particular form and purpose.
