Internal is a collection of poems, prose, and musings written and compiled by Afghanistan War Veteran Christian Vanderbush. Christian was a Marine deployed to Helmand Province in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. While serving he would turn to writing during the more mundane moments as a way to collect his thoughts and re-center himself. He didn't, however, put down the pen when he returned home. Internal is a catalogue of the complexities of thought and emotion that are often dark and overwhelming. Feelings Veterans often feel the need to carry alone. Internal is an appeal to both Veterans and those seeking to understand them, that these feelings and emotions are valid. This collection carries the raw power of honesty and vulnerability with it. While it is a deeply personal journey through one Marine's experience, the message speaks to all: You are not alone.

Vanderbush, Christian: - Christian Vanderbush is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, husband, and father. Serving as an Infantry Machine Gunner from 2013 to 2019 he has established himself as an author of poetry, short stories, and novels. His work encompasses the ever-evolving complexity of service life and its aftermath and he hopes his work can not only help people understand veterans, but help veterans understand themselves.
