An Intriguing Murder by Roderic Jeffries

For once, Alvarez is eager to get to work
Scott Muir was envied, but seldom liked; when Keir Locke learned he might have been the man whose malign influence had led his daughter to commit suicide, dislike turned to hatred. On Saturday, Muir entertained Tabitha who would have tempted a misogynist to recant. So when he was found dead in his swimming pool, she becomes an important witness and it is Alvarez's duty to question her.

Roderic Jeffries was born in London in 1926 and attended the School of Navigation in Southampton. In 1943, he went to sea with the New Zealand Shipping Company, and in 1949, he returned to London and was called to the Bar. He practiced law for a short time before dedicating himself to writing full-time. His writings have been adapted for film, television, and radio and have been published in a variety of countries. He and his wife have two children and live on the island of Mallorca.
